Netanyahu likens 'Gays for Gaza' to 'Chickens for KFC' in speech to Congress
WASHINGTON (TND) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesdaychastised certain anti-Israel protesters during his address to a joint session of Congress.
The address came as thousands of anti-Israel protesters took to the streets of Washington, D.C., to protest Netanyahu’s presence. Demonstrators pounded drums, lit flares and hoisted Palestinian flags. Capitol Police reported members of the crowd became violent, causing them to deploy pepper spray.
Netanyahu called out Gays for Gaza, a slogan used by some anti-Israel protesters. Such a slogan, he argued, is oxymoronic.
“Some of these protesters hold up signs proclaiming 'Gays for Gaza,’” he said. “They might as well hold up signs saying 'Chickens for KFC.’”
These protesters chant ‘from the river to the sea’ but many don’t have a clue what river and what sea they’re talking about,” he added.Netanyahu's remark appeared to be in reference to Hamas's documented handling of homosexuality in Gaza. In 2016, Hamas commander Mahmoud Ishtiwi was brutally tortured and eventually killed by the terrorist group for having sex with a man, according to Human Rights Watch.

The Israeli leader during the address also gave a nod to the students at the University of North Carolina who defended the U.S. flag from pro-Palestinian protesters in the Spring.
“I wish to salute the fraternity brothers at the University of North Carolina for protecting the American flag against these anti-Israel protesters,” he said to applause from Congress.
The chamber broke out in chants of “USA” following the remark.
